Ab Doer Review – Does The Abdoer Twist Really Work?

I feel like I’ve seen the Ab Doer infomercial about 50,000 times over the years, but it was the infomercial that I just recently saw for the Abdoer Twist that made me realize that I just HAD to write my own little opinion piece/review so people can know once and for all what I think of the effectiveness of both the original Ab Doer and newer Twist version.

What I am about to tell you applies not only to the Abdoer, but also to many other similar abdominal workout type products and machines that you see in all of these infomercials all day (and all night) long. Not only that, but this also applies to most of the fancy advanced machines in your gym, as well as exercises like situps, crunches and leg raises.

Ready to find out if it really works? Here comes the truth…

Does The Ab Doer Really Work?

The Ab Doer infomercial makes it seem like the Abdoer is by far the best abdominal product there is. And why? Because it will apparently get rid of all of the fat on your stomach and get you that lean perfect 6 pack and flat sculpted stomach you’ve always wanted.

And did you see the people who tell you this? You know, the guys and girls with the perfect bodies and great abs? They all look amazing, so this must all be true, right? This one product will finally get you the perfect abs you’ve always dreamed of, right? This is the product that will melt away all of your belly fat and reveal a sexy 6 pack, right?  There is no way that any of this could be anything but true, right??? This has to work, right????

Right?!?!? Uh… not exactly.

While the Ab Doer Twist and other versions of this machine may in fact train your abdominal muscles to some degree, it alone will not do the awesome stuff I just described.

Don’t panic… I’ll gladly tell you why this product and most other abdominal products like it are probably not worth your time and effort in my opinion.

Here’s The Truth…

The first thing you need to understand is that no matter what the people in the Ab Doer infomercials tell you, the Abdoer WILL NOT directly burn any of the fat off of your stomach. None of these other abdominal products and machines will either.

You see, there is only one, let me repeat this, THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY to burn the fat off of your stomach or any other part of your body.

This of course is by creating what’s called a caloric deficit. A caloric deficit is what happens when you eat less total calories than your body requires to maintain your current weight. What basically happens is that your body then uses your own stored body fat for energy instead, which is the one and only way fat is lost from any part of the human body… including the stomach.

Now, the next thing you need to know is that everyone sort of has abs and a sexy flat stomach already. I do, you do, the 800lb guy you read about in the news who needs to be lifted out of his house by a crane because he’s too fat to move… everyone does!

The thing is, most people can not see their abs and sexy flat stomach because it’s covered by a layer (or many layers) of fat. Which means the only way to finally see your abs is to burn that fat. And the only way to do that is by eating a proper diet that creates the required caloric deficit I mentioned a minute ago.

The Ab Doer Twist alone will NOT make this happen. All the Abdoer and any similar ab exercise or machine will do is help build and strengthen your abdominal muscles. But you see, that won’t do a damn thing for you if you still have a layer of fat covering them!

The truth is, this Ab Doer product isn’t much different than ANY other ab exercise or machine. Hell, this study shows that it’s not better or more special than plain old crunches done on your living room floor. They both do the same exact thing, which is target the abdominal muscles and help to strengthen and build them. But, no matter what abdominal exercise, workout or machine you’re using, NONE of it will EVER directly target the layer of fat covering your abs.

Spot Reduction Is A Myth

The idea that it will is just a silly myth known as spot reduction, and it is scientifically proven to not be possible. Of course, the makers of most machines like the Ab Doer would probably rather you didn’t know this. It would be a whole lot easier to sell products that way.

However, despite any deceptive marketing that makes it seem otherwise, spot reduction of your belly fat just isn’t possible (without plastic surgery, of course).

However, You SHOULD Still Train Your Abdominal Muscles

Don’t get me wrong, here. I still recommend training your abs in some way and personally do so myself. All I ever do (or usually recommend) is just 10-15 minutes of some basic exercises (weighted crunches, hanging leg raises, ab roll-outs, planks, etc.) done twice per week.

No more than that is typically needed to strengthen and build your ab muscles, so any additional work you do is likely just a complete waste of time at best, or overtraining at worst.

Instead, that time would be much better spent on your fat loss diet, because that is what’s truly going to be responsible for giving you the perfect abs the Abdoer Twist and other similar products claim to.

In Conclusion…

Well, now you know my opinion of the Ab Doer. You know why I think it’s probably a waste of time and effort for most and probably isn’t doing anything that other basic exercises wouldn’t be doing… other than costing you some money.

So, if you really want the “perfect abs you’ve always dreamed of,” all you need to do is train your abs to a sane degree and focus most of your effort on your diet plan. Ignoring what you see in Abdoer infomercials probably wouldn’t hurt, either.
